23 Nov 2000 — it was the 75th birthday of Bhagwan Sathya Sai Baba, which was being celebrated in Satyadeep Sai Universe. Sai Pragyan, a Balvikas student, 5 years old, participated in the cultural programme. But on that very day he was suffering from fever — his temperature kept rising, and by evening it went up to 104 degrees. At this moment Sai Jyoti, Pragyan's mother, refused to let her son participate in the programme. On hearing this, Sai Pragyan replied, "Mumma, I love Maa and I will perform in the programme."
At 9pm, when the programme was over, Sai Pragyan's mother took him to Maa. As Maa looked at Pragyan, she told his mother to take him to the doctor immediately. But Pragyan's health was not good enough for that, since he had not eaten anything since morning. To bring his condition under control, Maa laid Pragyan down on her lap and gave him vibhuti. After an hour his health was under control, and Maa told his mother to take him to the doctor. After examining him, the doctor told his mother that he was suffering from typhoid, and gave him medicine immediately. Pragyan had the medicine on an empty stomach and went to sleep.
The next day he woke up and told his mother that Maa was with him the whole night, caring for him. The love of Maa is priceless, because it is pure and bright as the light of the sun, which sparkles today also in Pragyan's eyes. Sai Pragyan was able to understand that, despite the high temperature, he was able to take part in the programme — it was none other than Sai Baba's blessing and Maa's prayer that provided the source of energy that enabled him to take part.
